Who we are
Fact Tower is operated by Tom Majek, based in British Columbia, Canada. Questions: tom@facttower.com.
What we collect
Fact Tower is designed to collect as little as possible. Specifically:
- Anonymous player ID. When you visit, we create a random identifier and store it in a cookie on your device (
ft_anon). This ID never leaves your browser except to tell us "this is the same person as yesterday." We do not collect your name, email address, or any identifying information. - Game progress. We store your current level, run history, and answers on our server, linked to your anonymous ID. This is what lets your tower persist day to day.
- Server logs. Our web server logs standard access information (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for a rolling 30-day window to diagnose errors. We do not sell or share these logs.
Cookies
We set one cookie: ft_anon. It is a random ID with no personal information. It is marked HttpOnly (not accessible to JavaScript) and expires in one year. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party cookies.
What we do not do
We do not sell data. We do not share data with advertisers. We do not run analytics services that track you across sites. We do not require an account. We do not collect email addresses (this may change if we add account features — we will update this policy first).
Data storage and security
Your game data is stored on a server in Canada (AWS ca-central-1). We use HTTPS for all connections. Because your data is anonymous, there is nothing sensitive to protect — but we take reasonable precautions anyway.
Your rights (BC PIPA)
This site is governed by British Columbia law and the BC Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Because we do not collect personal information under the Act's definition, most PIPA obligations do not apply in practice. If you believe we hold information about you and want it deleted, email us and we will help where we can.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
